I’m taking political philosophy right now and we’re studying The Prince. I don’t have the book yet, but I will.
Anyway there is one that is mentioned in that book. I barely remember it because I started reading The Prince, however, I have a tendency not to finish books. Still there was a tenent about not only destroying the rulers but to also destroy their heirs.
They told of the example of Saddam Hussein. I’m not shedding a tear over him and his kids but what happened to his sons fits the idea. You want to have control or take power kill anyone who might be able to take his place. That does include his sons.
Of course there are other examples, the Bolsheviks and the Romanovs, the Gandis in India, or even Bhutto in Pakistan. There was one botched example the son of the Shah of Iran whom I just heard that since he lives in LA he was able to hack into Iranian TV signals and send a message to the people of Iran. To get them thinking no doubt about overthrowing the Ayatollahs over there.
Well such a strategy bothers me, but the world is what it is. I would rather American government stay away from such a strategy.
Like I said I’m not shedding a tear for Saddam Hussein and his sons I really believe they are monsters. I bring this point up only because this is something to consider. What do you think?
